|Concept and Objectives||The development of integrated local biorefineries, aimed mainly at innovative products with a high added value, such as biochemicals and bioplastics, is a key tool to establish synergies with the agricultural world with a view to revitalising manufacturing sites and restarting production in certain areas, with several positive cascading effects in terms of employment, productivity, environmental protection.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit a real example of integrated biorefinery: Matrìca, in the North of Sardinia, a 50:50 joint venture between Novamont and Versalis whose purpose is to reconvert a petrochemical facility into a sustainable industrial complex able to produce a state-of-the-art range of products sourced from vegetable raw materials, using an integrated agricultural production chain.
